The Benefits of Pilates

Pilates is a wonderfully effective body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance with emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center. It also helps improve coordination and balance. The Pilates’ system allows for different exercises to be modified in a range of difficulty levels from beginner to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as your body conditions and adapts to the exercises.

Paula’s Qualifications

Paula trained through the prestigious New York Power Pilates and holds qualifications in a range of levels of Matwork Pilates.

Paula also qualified as a Sports Therapist through the National School of Remedial Therapy [NSRT].

Paula’s Professional Background

Paula is from a dance background and was first introduced to Pilates whilst doing a world tour with Riverdance. My world changed as a result!

Touring with a company like Riverdance was hugely intense on the body. We were doing 8 shows a week so it was vital that we stayed at the pique of our physical fitness at all times. However injuries were still a big part of our lives and as any dancer or athlete will tell you, you learn to accept this fact. When Pilates was introduced into our daily routine our injury rate dropped by a whopping 90%!

It teaches to use your body in the most effective way possible. It’s amazing the control you gain and in only a few weeks. Needless to say, I was sold!

I was fascinated by the power and strength of this enjoyable exercise routine and the results spoke for themselves.

Don’t get me wrong you do not need to be a dancer, athlete or have any affiliation to sport or exercise to do Pilates. That’s the beauty of Pilates, it’s for all levels. Whether you are simply looking to gain muscle tone and strength or you are recovering from a back injury, Pilates will be invaluable to you.

I’ve been teaching Pilates now for over 10 years and from first hand experience I can say there is no downside.
